Through funding from the State of New Jersey, members of the Stevens faculty have received catalyst grants to improve and enhance undergraduate STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education. This work is accomplished through course redesign and enhancement, development of new tools and methodologies to increase and assess student learning, and development of instructional strategies to foster greater student interaction and engagement in coursework. It is the intention of the funded projects to enhance learning, engagement and persistence of students studying STEM disciplines, particularly during the first two years of study when students are most vulnerable to switch out of STEM majors.
